Ms Emma Whitehead
Emma Whitehead is a Clinical Scientist at the Regional Radiation Protection Service at the Royal Surrey County Hospital. After graduating with a Physics degree from the University of Southampton she followed the four year IPEM training in Medical Physics, registering as a Clinical Scientist in Radiation Protection and Diagnostic Radiology in 2013. The Regional Radiation Protection Service involves providing support and advice to radiology departments in the NHS and private sector under the Ionising Radiations Regulations 1999 and the Ionising Radiations (Medical Exposure) Regulations 2000. Emma’s work in the department includes the commissioning and routine testing of medical X-ray equipment, including CR and DR X-ray systems, fluoroscopic X-ray systems for general, interventional and cardiac radiology, CT, and mammography systems. She is also involved with the optimisation of these systems and reviewing the radiation doses to patients, staff members and members of the public.Matthew Rowlandson
