Staying present – the what, who and how of mindfulness

31st March 2020  11:30 - 12:30 (GMT+01:00) Europe/London

In this webinar Dr Mark Chambers will briefly explore and introduce how Mindfulness is an essential human skill and is an essential complement to the ability to think. It is simply the practice of conscious awareness. It's importance in maintaining equanimity and balance has been recognised for thousands of years and it is the basis of many contemplative practices.

The practice of Mindfulness has been embraced by Western Medicine over the last 40 years and has been incorporated into specific and versatile therapeutic interventions including Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction and Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy. The value of the clinical application of Mindfulness practice is affirmed by a solid evidence-base of over 11,000 published papers.

Educational aims:

  • To introduce the concept of Mindfulness and offer an experience of participating in a brief Mindfulness meditation
  • To explain and experience what the practice of mindfulness is and how and why this practice can be useful in personal and clinical practice
