A Bleeding Nuisance: From Diagnosis Through treatment and Beyond:

A summary of the authors experiences as a patient undergoing treatment for a gynaecological cancer including: the signs and symptoms they experienced whilst awaiting a diagnosis; their diagnosis and treatment plan; the acute, long term and late onset effects of treatment, both physical and emotional; the importance of supported self-management whilst living beyond a cancer diagnosis; a message to health professionals supporting those affected by cancer.

  • Improve knowledge of the the patient experience
  • Improve awareness of the side effects of treatment, in particular the late effects of radiotherapy
  • Reinforce the knowledge regarding the positive impact a health professional can make on the patient experience
